Procedures

Breast Augmentation or Augmentation Mammoplasty is one of the most common and popular plastic surgery procedures. In this procedure implants are used to increase the size of a woman’s breast while improving the shape and figure of the breasts. Breast augmentation addresses issues that can be caused by previous pregnancy, nursing, weight loss and genetics. There are many types and shapes of implants available. Dr Smith will discuss the right choice for you during your consultation.

Oversize breasts can cause physical discomfort such as back pain, neck pain, shoulder grooving from bra straps and rashes underneath the breasts. Oversized breasts can also draw unwanted attention and comments while making clothes shopping a nightmare for many women. If you have ever experienced any of these problems, you may be a candidate for breast reduction.

The shape and size of women’s breasts can change over time with weight loss, nursing and normal aging. Breasts can become ptotic, also known as saggy. This condition can occur even with smaller breasts. A breast lift can restores a more youthful breast shape without reducing volume. There are many different types of breast lift procedures. Dr. Smith will consult with you regarding the best option for you.

This 12 minute video goes over the many types of reconstruction, including expander alone reconstruction, back flap reconstruction and TRAM flap reconstruction. It discusses the symmetry procedures such as breast lifts, breast augmentations and nipple reconstruction.

Lipoplasty commonly known as liposuction slims and reshapes specific parts of the body by removing excess fat deposits, improving the body’s shape and contour, resulting in an improved self-esteem in many patients. Liposuction surgery is used in treating stubborn fat deposits in different parts of the body such as: arms, ankles, calves, thighs, hips, waist, back, inner knee, chest, cheeks, chin, and neck. This procedure is not a weight loss option, nor is it a treatment for obesity. Non smoking patients in good physical health who have stubborn fat deposits are good candidates for this procedure.

Botox injections only take a few minutes and require no anesthesia. Botox is injected into problem area’s specific muscles. Overall it may take from 3 to 7 days for the injection to take full effect and it is recommended to avoid the use of alcohol at least a week prior to treatment. Aspirin and anti-inflammatory medications should be stopped two weeks prior to the treatment to reduce bruising. Botox treatment’s effects last between three to four months. As muscle action slowly returns, the wrinkles and lines begin to re-appear again.

Juvederm is used to restore the fresh and youthful look of the skin. These injections can also contribute to the improvement of sun-damaged and aging skin. Frown lines, crow’s feet, nasolabial folds and smile lines are among the issues that can be improved with juvederm. These injections can replenish the skin’s natural contour. There may be some bruising and swelling after the treatment, this should clear up within 48 hours.

The face can portray signs of aging before any other body part.  Gravity and the natural loss of elasticity in the skin can both contribute to signs of aging. Rhytidectomy also known as facelift is a surgical procedure in order to improve signs of aging of the face and neck. If you are experiencing sagging in the midface, deep creases below the lower eyelids, fat that has fallen or is displaced, loss of elasticity, loose skin under the chin and jaw, you may be a good candidate for this surgery.

Over the years face lift procedures have evolved from simple skin lifting to more complex deeper tissue lifting techniques. Usually incision sites are made in front of and behind the ear. The incisions may extend into the scalp. Liposuction of the neck and jowls may be appropriate for some patients. The end result is to restore a more youthful contour of the face.

Abdominoplasty commonly known as Tummy Tuck is a surgical procedure which excess fat and skin is removed from the middle and lower abdomen in order to create a smoother and firmer profile.

Most common causes of abdominal sagging are pregnancy, aging, significant fluctuations in weight, heredity, and prior surgeries. Patients who are physically healthy and at a stable weight, do not smoke, and who have realistic expectation are good candidates for this procedure.

Rhinoplast improves the look and proportion of the nose, enhancing facial harmony and self confidence in patients. Structural changes to the nose can also improve impaired breathing by structural abnormalities or accident related incidents. Rhinoplasty can improve upon the nose size, width, profile, tip, and nasal asymmetry and deviation. To be a good candidate you need to be physically healthy, a non smoker, and have specific and realistic improvements in mind.
